What do you
get for the person who has everything for Christmas? A brand new store offering
exactly what you need has opened in the Newburgh Quarter. Discover guitarwrist, 2 Newburgh Street, a non-for-profit jewellery
collection created by used guitar strings from internaitonal artists, open
until the New Year. Soon you could be wearing a unique piece from the guitar
strings of Stereophonics, Duran Duran or Pendulum.
The jewellery
collection of bracelets, rings and necklaces are designed by Emma and Kitty
Hedley and are dedicated to raising funds for charity from the
sales.
The diverse and impressive array of international artists who have
donated strings to the guitarwrist, and support this project
include: KT Tunstall, Duran
Duran, The Darkness, Pendulum, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Enter Shikari,
Stereophonics, Twin Atlantic, You Me At Six, Toto, Black Star Riders, Thin
Lizzy, Marillion, Steve Hackett and the late
legendary guitarist Alvin Lee plus many more.
Among the
charities who will benefit from the guitarwrist initiative are: Save The Children, CRUK, Teenage Cancer Trust, Help
Refugees UK, Shelter, Dogs Trust, Centrepoint and
more are continually being added.
Not just a jewellery store, head inside for a free
of charge, drop-in restringing clinic with the two premier string
manufacturers, Ernia Ball and Rotosound. Photographer Scarlet Page will
also be exhibiting her stunning guitarist photographs in-store, plus
photographer Greg Nolan will have images from
"This Was Or Scene" documenting the Camden Indie Scene from 2002-2005
on display; expect evocative images capturing The Libertines, Arctic Monkeysand Amy Winehouse.
