Rooftop Retreat: Notch

The newest rooftop in London is top Notch. Transformed from last year’s peaceful garden know as Roofnic, the fourth floor of London Marriott Park Lane is now a buzzing sky-high industrial playground. Secretly tucked away on the west side of Oxford Street near Marble Arch, you will find a door (between Evans and a souvenir shop) which will guide you up to Notch and reveal this Williamsburg warehouse come Berlin yard sale space. With its eclectic mix of reclaimed materials, including school science tables, Edwardian floorboards and bomb proof lighting.

The bar will be serving up some feel-good summer drinks with very-boozy Rum punch, the giant Notch Iced Tea which is made for sharing but it is so good you will probably want it all for yourself. But the must-try is the handcrafted and hand-sealed small cans of classic cocktails: a Negroni (made with Cinzano Rosso, Campari and Bulldog Gin), Fashioned (Wild Turkey 81 and bitters) and Adonis (Cinzano Rosso, sherry and bitters), all priced at £8.00.

And there will be no going hungry as Notch will be serving up some Nikkei street food in a super cute ‘Fudo Shack’. With punchy plates that incorporate the fusion of Japanese, South African and Peruvian flavours and techniques. The signature dishes are fried chicken with marinated kimchee mayo and Pulled beef with anticucho drenched short rib, anticucho mayo and pickled cucumber.

Notch will be open 7 days a week from 10am – 10pm, and with a no reservation policy, it is best to get there first. So gather up your pals and take it to the roof!
